Message from the CIT Principal

The word CHILDHOOD comes from the Latin word “in-fanti” which means literally, no voice, unable to speak.

Some time ago this period covered up untill 6-7 years of age, whilst nowadays this stage has no limits, “childish” behaviour is recognised outside its natural context, even in todays adult world.

Despite the youth of our pupils, our school strongly believes that the world requieres not only their voices, but also their hands, the capacity of action and above all their dreams, as well as their ability to create and project scenarios for present and a better future.

To do this, we need to set positive goals, - that is, accompanied by values that inspire their conduct- and secondly a positive learning knowledgy and skills with which to carry out such work.

This is why our project is so passionate & exciting, because it is not mere “academic instruction”. We know that without the capacity to read, writh or speak languages, the possiblity for any human action is limited; without numbers, symbolic languages, their capacity to analyse is void, and finally without scientific knowledge their interpretation of the world will be superficial, making them extremely vulnerable.

We are also aware that “ to know” is not enough, they have to want to grow, they have to value all the things they learn, use them to decide who they want to be and where they want to go. Hence the importance of our values-based education for their ability to raise horizons and engage the will with their fate.

For these same reasons also the importance of our children being at school. Every day, every year, every effort, and every achievement makes them stronger and able to decide their own destiny.

We guide them to measure their successes and failures with justice, not to blame others for their failures, because both are part of their future treasure, their decision to become who they really are.

We help them to do this with dignity, respect and love for themselves and for them alike – whether children, youth or adults – with simplicity, honor, genorosity, but with determination.

We encourage them to speak, to express their aspirations, needs and dreams. I say that we must lose fear of the higher standards, the what people may say, to envy, meanness... there are too many “childish” adults, with power but without own voice, and the worls needs human beings capable to create, promote, nurture and perpetuate high efforts and good work..

We make them conscious that age dosnt matter, our young people, their actions, not only contribute to our future but also shape our present.

Our students are not “infants”, they are young human beings worthy of admiration and respect. Each one of them is unique and unrepeatable, and we are very proud to see them grow and to contribute to our daily work to provide guidance and support.

Eduacation is a non ending task. It seduces and surprises equally. With arms that wrap you between hot certainties and with the other, will show you a range of possibilities still by conquering.

This is what education is about; the successful combination of our horizons and limits aimed at developing each student. They are the stars of Colegio Internacional Torrequebrada´s fascinating history.
