Colegio Internacional Torrequebrada has a demanding academic environment that gives students a WELL-ROUNDED EDUCATION, through the development of necessary abilities for future successes.
This education is going to be provided through transversal projects. Throughout the child’s school years. The most important ones:
ITAKA – Interactive Training Aiming for Knowledge Achievement
The application of Interactive Technologies through the process of transmission and acquisition of knowledge in and out the classroom. The School has important and exclusive Research and Development for the technological application’s design in the field of education; it also has its own proven methodology to put them into effect to improve teaching and learning in the school life. All teachers at the school receive an intensive training on how to introduce this program under Good Teaching Practices.
In collaboration with UNESCO and Argos’s chairman Mr Federico Mayor Zaragoza –former Educational Minister in Spain and UNESCO General Manager for 12 years-, this project promotes the education in Universal Values related to the protection of the environment, defence of the historical, artistic and cultural inheritance and the promotion and defence of the Human Rights and the Children’s Rights.
Based on the reinforcement of the innovative capacity in the student as a person, seen as an integrated characteristic to the child’s way of thinking, learning and decision making that comes from multiple experiences joined to a proper development of personal resources, including the ability to predict and arrive to unexpected solutions. This program involves students and teachers to carry out Innovation Projects and participate in special sessions focused on promoting and developing the knowledge from these experiences.
BIP – Bilingual Inmersion Period
Characterized for establishing periods of linguistic immersion in a second or third language during the school academic year.
U2 – You Too
Chaired by Mr Jorge Valdano an expert on team leadership and management. This project is inspired by the Anglo-Saxon system of “School Houses” and encourages the students to learn about team work and promote friendship and positive social habits.
A transversal project for leisure that contemplates, in the words of his president Mr Juan Antonio Samaranch – former International Olympic Committee for 20 years-, “Sports as an essential complement to Education”. Optimo is made up of educational programs like skiing, horse riding, golf, sailing and swimming, amongst others, and cultural displacements and multi-activities in the mountains and the sea, looking for overcoming challenges, establishing limits, and the cooperation and affinity between the students during these activities, allowing them to make stronger relationships out of the school environment.
