MYP5 awareness-raising campaign – foster care

All families

Our MYP5 students recently took part in a talk led by the Hogar Abierto Foundation, where they learned about the reality faced by many children who, for various reasons, cannot live with their biological families. This eye-opening session inspired them to launch an awareness campaign to inform others about the importance of foster care and encourage compassionate action within our school community.
During the session, students discovered the different types of foster care available:

  • Emergency foster care, for children under seven years old, usually lasting up to six months.
  • Temporary foster care, when the biological family is unable to care for the child temporarily (up to two years).
  • Permanent foster care, similar to adoption, but without full legal custody.
  • Adoption, in which the child becomes a full legal member of the adoptive family.

Students highlighted how fostering offers children emotional stability, safety, and a nurturing environment, while also providing foster families with a deeply rewarding and transformative experience. Families receive support, training, and even financial assistance throughout the process.

If you’d like to learn more or find out how to get involved, please visit the official foundation website:

We’d like to thank our wonderful MYP5 students for their empathy and initiative, as well as Miss Eva and Miss Paula Fernández for their support and guidance throughout this meaningful project.

Curiosity of the week

Blue Class builds its school with LEGO

Infant School

Creativity and imagination have taken over the Blue Class with their amazing project ‘Exploring Big Ideas with Little Bricks’. Over the last few weeks, our students have been recreating the whole school… with LEGO bricks! Using their own plans, they have designed and built every corner of the campus as they live and imagine it, developing skills in spatial planning, teamwork and creative expression.

This project is a beautiful example of how young children are capable of realizing great ideas when they are given the space to explore and build freely.

Congratulations to all the little architects of the Blue Class!

Quote of the week

The child is made of one hundred. The child has a hundred languages, a hundred hands, a hundred thoughts, a hundred ways of thinking, of playing, of speaking.
